This Dad’s Opinion:
The trip here was a little different than normal. We actually came from Poplarville, MS where we were visiting our daughter. However, that trip was cut short due to a tropical storm and her school was requiring everyone to evacuate for. We ended up calling around to see if we could find a place away from the storm and the storm’s trajectory. We called Jellystone because of its location. It was about half between where we were and home which means it was half way for our daughter to get back to school as well. The ride into the park was uneventful. There were nice roads that were no problem for a camper to get through. We ended up with a spot that did not have any trees due to my wife asking about low hanging trees when we made the reservation. See our travel trailer with its loft is close to 14’-0” tall and has caused trouble in the past. The site that we had was not especially level and had a gravel pad. They do offer slab pads, but those are premium spots and were not available due to our last minute reservations. All in all, I am glad that we were able to get the spot and look forward to going back there soon.
Just one mom’s opinion:
This is definitely the most family friendly campsite we have been to. Tons of activities geared toward younger kids but our older ones still had a good time. We were there in October and they take Halloween to a new level every weekend in October: costume contest, pet costume contest, campsite decorating contest, trick or treating, and a haunted walking trail. There are plenty of water activities too: boat rentals, fishing, swimming in the pool that overlooked the lake, and more. The pool even had a kiddie area with slides, water guns, bridges , etc. They have a restaurant by the pool and a camp store for souvenirs and forgotten items. The mini golf course was covered with leaves and could use some restoration work but we had fun playing. The bathhouse was clean but was a decent walk from our site and the walk to the dumpster was even further. It was a quick weekend trip and we ended up here by default as the place we originally planned to stay was in the path of a hurricane. Needless to say, I am glad we had the experience.
19 year old point of view:
Yogi On The Lake is one of my top three campsites that we have been to. It was clean and had a great family vibe to it. There was a haunted hayride, mini golf, and a nice swimming pool. If you do not feel like cooking one night then there is a little food place there that you can walk to. It had a wide variety of food. There was pizza, funnel cakes, hotdogs, hamburgers, wraps, etc. Since we went on a holiday, Halloween, there was a lot of activities going on that week. You could enter a golf cart decorating contest, costume contest, and even a campsite decorating contest. Everyone that we met was very welcoming. There were people staying in cabins, tents, and rvs.
A high school boys view:
There wasn't good reception through the phone and we struggled to find a place with service. There was free wifi but if you wanted a more stable connection you would need to go up the the cafe next to the water park. Also the site did have free cable.
