Lake Lowndes State Park, Columbus, MS

We visited Lake Lowndes State Park, Columbus, MS on March 22nd Thru March 24th 2019

This Dad’s Opinion:

It was about a 3 hour drive from our house to the park.  However, nothing big to report on the drive.  The entrance was nice and the park was marked well.  We did not have much of an issue finding the campground area.  When we arrived, it was dark.  Luckily, the sites were also clearly marked which helped out a ton.  Our campsite was 35 which was nice and had plenty of room for our 43 ft trailer.  The asphalt pad was not exactly level, but it was not to bad or a big issue to get level.  All of the hook-ups were clean, worked and where they needed to be to make hooking up easy.  We had a nice picnic table and the fire ring at our site was actually at the back of the camper which gave us extra room for friends to be over.  We were there for a soccer tournament with Dunlap Clan, so this was a nice feature for this particular site.  There are plenty of big trees which gave us a place to hang lights, and we were right across the street from the lake.  All in all, this was a nice easy set-up.

One Mom’s Point of View:
This was a pleasent trip. The campsite and campgrounds were clean and well maintained. The scenery was great with tons of mature trees and water. The campsite we were in was in a loop which was nice because we could let the kids roam and keep them in eyesight. This was also beneficial for walking the dogs. Our campsite and all those around us were wide and deep so there was plenty of room for yard games, socializing, cooking and just hanging out under the trees. The bathhouse was at the top of the loop and was also clean. All in all it was a nice excursion with lots of memories for our family and friends. Based on our experience and the distance from our home I would definately like to revist this campground.
