We visitied Reunion Lake located in Ponchatoula, LA on September 4th 2020.
This Dad's Opinion,
The Drive was about as easy as it gets. The entire trip was on the interstate for us until we got to the exit for the park. The park is located about 1/4 mile from the off ramp. The entrance is well marked and simple for anyone with any size camper to turn into. Once at the park, you pull up to the check in building where in our case, there was a person directing us to pull into one of a few parking areas for rigs. Then you proceed into the office and complete your check in. You will need everyone for this at one time or another. Each person will receive a wrist band for entrance into the different activities offered at the park. My wife went in first then returned to the truck, and then me and my son went in. Once we were all checked in, an employee on a golf cart with the number of our site told us to follow him. So, we followed. He guided us to our site so that we would have the best advantage to back in. Once at the site, he waved and was gone. Backing "Big Girl" onto her pad was real easy. All of the trees were cut back so there was no worries about hitting anything. Each site has a nice, level, concrete pad for the camper and connected concrete pad for the picnic table. The sites offered both 30, 50, and standard 110 electrical connections. Each power pole had the water located at the bottom so everything was in easy reach. The water pressure was great and we did not have any issues with the hook-ups. The sewer connection was also located in easy reach to the camper. The only issue we had with hooking up was a wasp nest that was in the box next to ours on the pole. To be fair, there was no power on that box since we were at the end of the row, so it is not used.
One Mom's Point of View:
This was glamping at its finest! We could have stayed a week. The kids had plenty to do to stay entertained which meant mommy could relax in the adult pool or lazy river. I am usually the first to notice cleanliness and I was amazingly impressed. This place was immaculate. The staff was pleasant and attentive. The swim up bar was a nice touch and because I attached our card to the wrist bands, I didn't have to worry with having money or card on my person or in a chair to buy food, snacks, or drinks. The frozen drinks were good but the fried cajun green beans were "addictive spicy goodness", as my hubby would say. The kids could order and pay with their bands too. It's optional to add to each person but really why wouldn't you. It made everything hassle free. The cabanas were very nice and provided great shade and space to relax. They were a bit pricey at 75 bucks day, and if you want one, make sure someone from your group wakes up early because they go fast. I even enjoyed overlooking the lake while in the pools. I will add that the kid pool area was large and had interactive water play along with pools. There seemed to be a lot of families enjoying it but it still didn't look overly full. The resort has over 200 rv sights and was almost at capacity when we went and I can honestly say it didn't seem crowded at all. I have a feeling we will be back!
A Young Adult's View:
My friend and I had a blast on this trip! There were plenty of things to do around the camp ground. We made sure to participate in all of them. My friend really enjoyed the floating obstacle course and I enjoyed the kayaking and paddle boarding. I really liked that our wrist bands were linked to our credit card so that we didn't have to keep up with our money. However, I will say this is dangerous when you are in the pool and order a bunch of mixed drinks. A different band would play every night in the main common area. My friend and I jammed out in the pool with our drinks every night. All in all, this was an amazing trip that we will never forget.
A High School Boy's Point of View:
This is probablymy favorite camp site. The overall atmosphere was really laid back and there were many activities available on the camp grounds. My personal favorite was the lake which you could paddleboard and kayak in. The lake also had a closed off section with a massive floating obstacle course thing that had a stand to jump off and many kids as well as myself were doing flips off of it. By the main pool at night there was a band that played while everyone was in the pool enjoying the music. On another night there was a dance floor with karaoke. Almost everyone traveled by golf cart which they had for rent if you didn't have your own. The park also had a recreational area that had mini golf, basketball courts, tennis courts, as well as a volley ball net. Overall the experience was really good and you would probably have a hard time not finding something to enjoy while your there.
This Middle School Girl's Thoughts:
I had a blast! A couple a nights there were golf cart parades. This is when a lot of the golf carts would ride around the resort until 12am with their lights, banners and playing music. There were also golf carts for rent, although you had to have your license to be able to drive them around. The lazy river is where I spent most of my time because it was relaxing and fun. They also had music on throughout the resort. The lake was also a lot of fun. It had paddleboards, kayaks and a big bounce castle thing that stays on the lake which a lot of the younger and kids enjoyed.
There are so many different things offered, I decided to include a links to the Amenities and Rates pages.
